The Deli in the winter
Conneticut Avenue, one of D.C's most well known streets, has, over the last 5 years, become a hotspot for small-time restaurants, cafes and pubs. Over the years this street has witnessed its share of business make-overs, in which businesses set up shop and close-out on a yearly basis; that is to say that it is indeed hard to make it on this busy and rather competitive street. However among the few businesses that have survived the waves of generational demands, Byblos Deli stands out as an "old-timer" that just can't seem to be outdone or replaced. With its simple and homey menu, eaters can sit down to a nice ensemble of traditional Lebanese mezzes such as grape leaves, tabouleh, shish taouk, or lamb from the heated rotating rack, as well as other highly demanded "easy-foods" such as burgers, fries, and hot dogs. Eaters are treated like friends in this cozy little deli, and there is little doubt that the boss; Chef Mark, will let any customer walk out without a smile and a reason to return with friends. However, the real and highly underrated treasure of the deli, is its customizable 'Steak n' Cheese'. As it sounds, it is a remake of the Cheese-Steak, however in this case, eaters can add whatever they please into the sandwich- options include : feta cheese, jalapenos, crushed red-peppers, olives, hot sauce, cucumbers, hummus, and fries. The sandwich is juicy as ever, and can be enjoyed at any time; especially in times of real hunger. Byblos Deli and its welcoming vibes await your order.
